CC DARE in Senegal

CC DARE stakeholder consultation A CC DARE scoping mission was undertaken in Senegal in May 2008, where a stakeholder consultation was held with participants from ministries, NGOs and development partners.
Agenda
List of Participants
Proposals submitted A total of 13 proposals were submitted from diverse ministries and NGOs.
Projects selected Three projects were selected for CC DARE funding:

1. « Renforcement des capacités des populations à des pratiques agricoles adaptées aux changements climatiques dans le Delta du Fleuve Sénégal ».

The major objective of the project is to build the capacities of the Senegal River Delta region populations to enable them to adopt appropriate agricultural practices and technologies in the context of climate change.

2. « Sensibilisation de la population et des élus pour une intégration du risque climat dans les plans d’urbanisation (exemple de Rufisque et Bargny) ».

The Department of Regional Planning is using the CC DARE support to update the Urban Development Plans of coastal settlements of the towns Rusfisque and Bargny, taking into consideration the negative impact of climate change on coastal zone urban areas (e.g. sea level rise and coastal zone erosion).

3. « Intégration des impacts du risque climat dans les documents de planification et de programmation stratégique ».

The project aims at integrating climate change risk implications in national planning and strategies.
